Just a little about what I can offer in the way of Life Coaching: Like Hypnosis, Life Coaching is generally goal-oriented, meaning that there is usually a specific goal or series of goals that a client has in mind that the Life Coach will then help the client to achieve.
This goal could be anything at all-something you want to achieve or some change you want to make in your life. They could be personal or professional goals, or both. For example, a personal goal could be anything from “I want to become a stronger more confident person” to “I want to meet someone who shares the same interests and passions that I do” or “I want to find a partner who has a professional career in the same industry as I am.” Professional goals could be anything from “I want to get a promotion” (or a different job) to “I want to go into politics” or “I want to start my own non-profit organisation.”
The initial stage involves a detailed discussion of your goal (or goals) including an exploration of the possibilities for you around this goal and then the development of plan detailing the steps to that goal. After that comes action! Then I take the role of a facilitator, mentor and coach to help you to reach that goal step by step. Of course you free to stop the coaching process at any point. Counselling, coaching, hypnosis or even role-playing may be used as appropriate as part of this process.
The costs will be comparable to what I normally charge for hypnotherapy or counselling, ie. $200 for an initial session of 90 mins-2 hours and $150 per hour for each subsequent weekly session. Sessions can also be done over the phone or FaceTime.
Some questions you may wish to consider are: What are my most important goals? (in the short, medium and long-term). What is my dream life? (What does it look like and what am I doing or who am I with?) How much are those goals worth to me? How important are they to me? How much time and money would I be prepared to spend achieving them?
I will leave you with a true story about someone I coached once: a lady came to me and told me that her dream was to work for the United Nations. Just the idea seemed like an impossible dream for her. However, we began to work on a plan. Jobs in the UN are very highly paid and prestigious which means that they are very competitive and hard to get. So we had to look for a way to fast track her application. My first question to her was “In your life, have you ever met anyone who worked for the UN or even heard of anyone who worked for the UN?” Interestingly she was born overseas and after some deep thought said that she once had a school friend in her home country whose father had worked for the UN (What are the chances right?) Then I asked her whether he was still working there. She didn’t know so then her next task was to track down her old school friend and find out. The next time I saw her she told me that she was able to contact the old school friend and indeed her father was still working there. So I told her that may well be her way in. All she needed to do is to have her friend’s father to give her a written reference which she could submit with her application. Of course there were other steps we had to take-I was able to help her with her written application and I also coached her interview technique and discussed possible interview questions that might be asked in the event of an interview. Of course all of this unfolded over a number of weeks and months but to cut a long story short, she did get that job! The interview was done over the internet from New York! Then she had to move overseas (in fact she moved back to her home country to take up a position). She worked for UN for a number of years getting more than double the pay she had in Australia and each day getting picked up from her home in a chauffeur driven government car-not bad! Dreams can come true! (with a little help).
